Top questions about Eyelash Extensions
1. Are Eyelash Extensions Safe?
This is a great question eyelash extensions are safe when applied by a licensed and certified lash stylist. In the state of South Carolina lash stylist are required by law to have a cosmetology or esthetician licence by the state and Certified lash training. Please check your states requirements and look for their licenses when you go to their establishment.
2 .How long do Eyelash Extensions last?
We have 90-120 natural lashes per eye and strive to cover at least 80% to 90% of them, your normal lashes shed daily, about 2-5 per day you will need a fill after 2 to 3 weeks. So here's the breakdown of new lashes growing in to take the place of your lashes with the Eyelash Extension attached to it. 1st week 21 lashes, 2nd week 42 lashes, 3rd week 63 lashes
3. Do Eyelash Extensions damage your natural lashes?
When applied correctly, eyelash extensions do not damage your natural lash. Certified lash artists will apply to only one natural lash, and will apply an extension that is the appropriate weight and length to ensure the integrity of your natural lash. Eyelash extensions can be damaging if not applied using proper techniques. Lashes that are too heavy, or clusters (pre-made fans) have a larger amount of adhesive and can cause your natural lash to break. When selecting your lash artist, ask which techniques are used and where they were certified.
4. How long does it take to get Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions take anywhere from 2 hours for classic lashes and 3+ hours for volume lashes. It greatly depends on the amount of eyelashes you have. This is why it is imperative not to come to your Eyelash Extensions appointment with makeup on because this takes away from amount of time the lash artist has to apply eyelash extensions to your lashes.
5. Can you put mascara on Eyelash Extensions?
DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water based eye makeup remover. The reality is that adding mascara to your Eyelash Extensions will require you to have them removed and a new set applied.
6. How long do you have to wait to wet your Eyelash Extensions after having them applied?
After having your lashes applied the standard time to wait before getting them wet is 24 hrs. After 24 hrs you want to clean them daily. If you get your lashes done at a high end salon purchase the lash shampoo to aid in cleaning your lashes. Wet them then add one pump of your lash shampoo (should be a foam) then use a clean brush gently from the root of your lashes out in a circular motion this will loosen the dust and oil from between you lashes. After you rinse take your clean spoolie (mascara wand) and fan out your lashes from the middle of your lashes not the root out and dry with a cool dryer or fan.
7. Can I wear makeup with my Eyelash Extensions?
Absolutely wearing makeup is ok it is the removal that is important. Only use non oil-based makeup remover and to not scrub your lashes be gentle when removing your makeup go around your lashes and that should do the trick.
Most of these questions are ones that I receive on a daily basis from women wanting to know about eyelash extensions
